The Nations

Over the years we have developed relationships across the world and now work with churches in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Pacific Rim.

Africa

Southern Africa

We first became involved in South Africa in 1984. Since then many churches have been started in major cities, in townships and in rural communities. Formerly overseen apostolically by Simon Pettit from the Jubilee Church in Cape Town there are now new spheres of influence developing following Simon’s unexpected death in January 2005. New initiatives are also taking place out of South Africa with churches being started in Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana.

In Zimbabwe, too, a vibrant group of churches continues to grow under the oversight of Scott Marques. There the gospel is particularly being expressed holistically as the word of God is preached alongside the intense practical expressions needed at a time of political upheaval.

West Africa

John Kpikpi started a church in Accra, Ghana, over a decade ago. Since then his sphere of influence has grown dramatically and successfully as this church has grown and he has worked with or started new churches both within Ghana and in Benin, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Togo. He has a vision to see the gospel transforming West Africa.

East Africa

Edward Buria, based in Meru, Kenya has successfully started over 100 churches in Kenya and established businesses to uplift people. Many of these churches are among tribal people or formerly unreached people groups. He is also working into Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sudan, Eritrea and down into Malawi.

Americas

There are Newfrontiers churches in Canada, Mexico and the USA.

Canada

From an original contact in Fredericton, New Brunswick the Newfrontiers involvement in Canada has grown slowly to include churches in Ontario and a proposed plant in Montreal.

Mexico

Relationships with Mexico were first established in 1985 with the El Camino Church in Guadalajara through links with Ray Lowe from the UK. Since then a network of churches has been established, under the oversight of Lee Yarborough, in Leon, Los Mochis, Aguascalientes.

United States

In the USA there are clusters of churches in 3 regions - North East, North West and Mid West. There is an active church planting programme with leadership training and social outreach.

Asia

Relationships first developed with India through Alan Vincent who had pioneered a church in the then Bombay, now known as Mumbai.  Since the early days a number of churches have been planted, both English and Hindi speaking.  Rosemary Stapley, who was based in Mumbai, helped to pioneer work amongst the poor of India working with children in the slums of Mumbai, those suffering from leprosy and, more recently, the rapidly growing HIV/AIDS population.

Australasia

New Zealand

In recent years people in Newfrontiers churches have had a growing sense of God wanting them to move to church plant in New Zealand and Australia.  In 2001 two families moved from the UK to Christchurch, New Zealand to plant what is now a vibrant church.  Churches have, also, been started in Wellington and Auckland.

Australia

People from the UK and South Africa have moved to Australia with the desire to plant churches there.  Peter brooks is leading the church in Sydney and bringing oversight to other churches in Australia and the Pacific Rim (Japan, Cambodia, Philippines and New Zealand).

Middle East

The whole area of the Middle East is in great need of being reached with the gospel.  There are already active churches in Dubai and Oman and we are seeking to take the love of Jesus into other Middle Eastern nations.

Far East

The church in Dubai gathers professional people of many different nationalities, including a group of Philippinos.  When some of these returned to the Philippines, instead of dispersing they created a hub of about 30 people in the capital Manila which has now become a vibrant church.

Europe and Scandinavia

The Netherlands

In 1980 a small group of believers from Berkel, near Rotterdam, became friendly with the Coign Church in Woking, UK.  Since then, relationships have prospered with other Dutch churches.  Henk Kersten, who leads a developing team serving the churches in The Netherlands, is also active in other Northern European nations.

France

Norman Blows, leader of the Town Church in Sevenoaks in the UK, was surprised when God told him to learn French! He obeyed and gradually contacts began to be made in France by him and others, which has resulted in some warm friendships and relationship with a growing number of French churches. Prophetic words encourage us to believe for further breakthrough. The result is several churches across the nation.

Germany and Switzerland

We have had a relationship with a church in Basel for a number of years, a most beautiful historic city on the Rhine where the borders of Germany and Switzerland meet. This church subsequently grew resulting in two churches, one each side of the border. There are now several churches in both Germany and Switzerland.

Denmark

Joseph Kristensen leads the church in Copenhagen, where several different nationalities have come together under his leadership to develop a lively testimony to that strategic city.

Russia

For some years our commitment has been to the Rosa Church in Moscow led by Pavel Saveliev. We have also been joined by our friends in Tver, led by Sergie Issakov and now have growing links in Southern Russia.

Sweden

We are delighted that a church in Sweden has recently joined the Newfrontiers family!

Eastern Europe

Martyn Dunsford, who leads Kings Community Church Southampton, has, for a number of years, travelled widely in Eastern Europe building friendships with churches. As a result some of these churches have wholeheartedly embraced the vision and values that we hold as a family of churches. David Devenish of Woodside Church Bedford UK now leads teams working with churches in the Ukraine, and other eastern European nations.

Romania

In 2001 Christian Centre Brasov, in Romania joined the Newfrontiers family. This is a significant church, which has links with a number of other groups both in Romania and the very poor nation of Moldova.
