The scourge of HIV/AIDS amongst children is being addressed in South Africa (Pietermaritzberg, Guguletu Township in Cape Province and Somerset West), Kenya (Meru/Isiole) and Zimbabwe through grants from Hope HIV. Particular emphasis is being placed
on awareness, education and community/foster care. Some churches are together providing prevention measures through developing a curriculum for schools to help teachers equip children to live healthy and safe lives. Others are mobilizing and equipping voluntary care workers to befriend, counsel,pray with and prepare families who live with HIV/Aids for the future. Other churches are providing support to the growing number of orphans who are either having to provide for themselves and younger siblings or who are being looked after by aging grandparents.
