Famine, Flood and River Valley Fever: Edward Buria brings an update on Kenya.
‘… the extent of damage is far more serious than I expected. Many farms where we had issued thousands of planting seeds had their crops swept away by the serious floods, many still in need of food supplies. The RVF has, by now, touched almost every part of this country with tens and tens of people succumbing to this deadly virus, and thousands of animals dying. The government has thrown its weight behind the efforts of trying to control the spread and also treatment of those already down with the virus. Unfortunately the government machineries can't cope up with the magnitude of the epidemic. Our efforts have been alluded to by the government and those being assisted. We have issued thousands of mosquito nets advising our members in the seriously affected areas to always sleep under the nets. The virus affects humans through (1) fluids from an infected animal getting in touch with human beings, (2) eating meat of an infected animal, (3) through a certain type of a mosquito that bites animals, if it, also, bites humans. The RVF has completely brought down the beef industry with very serious economical implications that will affect our economy in a bad way and for many months to come. The country is under a siege of terrible fear of this virus … what we need most is your prayers. Thank you.’
Healed Hip
Over the last couple of years,
I began developing a very bad back pain. I went to the doctor who told me that I was developing osteoporosis on the hip bone. When I was in Mumbai for the ‘Festival of Faith’ I had a severe back ache. My wife Auta had to carry the heavy travel bags for me. As I heard Terry, I was stirred in faith to ask him to pray for me. I used to get a pain in my left hip from time to time since my teens. As he prayed for me the pain left my back instantly and I could bend and move very freely, even touch my feet, while earlier it was difficult to bend even to my knee level. I give all the praise, honour and glory to JESUS!!!

I walked to the top of Mount Sinai
In 2005 I had a problem with my right knee while on holiday in North Devon. It cracked and the knee became very painful and swollen. I was in so much pain that I had to go to the local hospital, where they fitted a knee brace to support my leg. As the year went on I continued to have pain in the knee and I was left with a limp and unable to kneel down or go to work.
In May 2006, Phil Moore (Woking, UK) came to speak at our church. I was unaware that we were having a guest speaker until that morning. As the worship started, Phil was led by God to stop the meeting as there were two conditions that God was going to heal that morning. He described a person who had been suffering from a bad knee for the last year and someone with something else which I can’t remember as I was so taken aback that he knew about the last year and my knee! So I went forward and he asked for others to come and pray. As I was prayed for, I felt the muscles flexing up and down my leg and my knee began to shake backward and forward. Then I knelt down on it several times. Since that day I have had no problems with it, even whilst I was in Egypt on holiday, when I walked up to the top of Mount Sinai – hard going even for people who are fit, as it took three hours going up and two and half hours coming back down.
I thank God for His healing touch.

From Apathy To Awe
The atmosphere changed from apathy to awe in about ten seconds.
Picture it: Five older teenagers, one scary dog, and a dose of attitude. We met on a council estate balcony in North London. One of them had been bitten by a dog and his injured leg was instantly healed after I prayed in the name of Jesus. The miracle paved the way for serious interest in the gospel and resulted in two others from the group asking for prayer that their absent, drug-addicted Mums would return home soon. A powerful lesson in how miracles ignite hunger for the truth.

The Power Of Prayer
We are a Dutch/Dominican couple living in the North East because of our full-time work with Mercy Ships. Lex Loizides and Phil Wilthew (Newcastle, UK) prayed for us that Elizabeth would conceive. Because of major surgery on her uterus a few years ago, doctors had told Elizabeth that having a baby was high unlikely. The prayer was not long, in fact, only four words were spoken by Lex: ‘IN JESUS’ NAME, CONCEIVE!’ Two weeks later, Elizabeth was pregnant! The last two months of the pregnancy were very challenging and the day after the birth of our daughter Grace Isabella, the doctor said that Elizabeth would not survive and we should say goodbye to each other. Again, the power of prayer was proven, as many friends around the world prayed that God would spare Elizabeth’s life. Now she is almost fully recovered and we are both back into our jobs with Mercy Ships. God does listen to those who call upon His name! He has the power over life and death! All praise be to Him!
