Newfrontiers in Portugal

Newfrontiers currently have 2 churches in Portugal; one in the Algarve at Lagos and the other in the north in Penafiel.

In 2004 the Igreja Evangélica Cristã, located in Penafiel in Northern Portugal, was officially welcomed into the Newfrontiers family after many years of building a warm relationship.  The church is lead by Mike Shore and is wholly Portuguese speaking.

We are currently working towards establishing Penafiel as a training base from which we can establish other churches in Portugal. We hope to initiate our first church plant, possibly into Portugal's second city of Porto, by the end of 2008. In addition to this, we have recently begun working into the important North Eastern university town of Vila Real. Here we have been asked to provide oversight for an established group of believers as they seek to grow into a vibrant church.

We enjoy a close relationship with the English Wessex Region of churches lead by Guy Miller.

In 2006 the International Church lead by Dave Chester became part of Newfrontiers. The church is situated in Lagos in the Algarve on the southern coast of Portugal. The church is English speaking and reaches out into the large international community, and is developing links with the city of Lagos itself: www.icc-lagos.org
