Opening Doors in Valencia, Spain
For many years we have been praying for a significant opening to allow us to plant a church in Spain. It now looks as if God has miraculously opened a door for that to happen, which is very exciting.
Research has been underway for over a year with a view to planting a church in Valencia. God has called a leader, Paul Godfrey, with experience of both Spain and church planting; a team is forming and the first group of people have already moved to Valencia. The stories of how God has called people to this, as in so many church planting ventures, is truly miraculous and encouraging. From the interest shown at the
Together on a Mission conference it is clear that the Lord is calling others to join us in Valencia.
There is even more evidence of the hand of God being with us. At exactly the same time that we were planning to plant into Valencia, an existing plant in the city was being lead to cry out to God for him to supply apostolic covering for their church. Numbers of the congregation had experience of
Newfrontiers churches in the past but the leaders did not know who to contact or even if we would be interested in being involved. The church consists of a Spanish congregation of around forty, most under thirty years of age, and an international English speaking congregation of business people and their families from around the world. They then found out that we were planning our own plant into the city!
The two are now coming together and as part of this, a weekend conference will be taking place on 18 – 22 October. Paul Godfrey and Tony Thompson will be taking some of those considering joining the plant to Valencia to join with those already there. This will be followed by a series of visits over the next few months.
If you are interested in being involved in what God is doing in Valencia, or if you want information for the future, please contact Paul Godfrey.
